Drying Lavender

I have lots of lavender plants and I'm wondering if I've left it too late to dry them so I can make lavender bags (to sell).
Most of the stems have finished flowering now, but the "dead" flowers are still on them. They still smell lovely.
I have googled 'lavender' etc but most sites say you should use stems that are just about to flower.
Does anyone else dry lavender at this time of year, and does the fragrance last?

Hi bizzylizzy,
I'm interested in this too as my lavender flowered while we were on holiday although there seem to be new flowers appearing now. I've had a look around and these older threads from the Old Style board might help:
Lavender - too late?

Thank you for all those links Pink, I'm still not sure if it's worth picking it all, drying it and making the little bags if the smell isn't going to last. I wanted to sell them at a charity event soon but don't want to be selling them if they quickly stop being 'lavender bags' and just become 'bags'!0

We tie up a handful of the 'gone over' flowers in a handkerchief and put them in to our pillows to give us a good nights sleep - seems to last for a month or two and really works!I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0
