If you work in wholesale can you offer us any buying tips? do wholesalers normally only deal with with trade accounts? does itr work out much cheaper than for the average person to buy wholesale or to go to the big chains?

I now am in the market for a years worth of Razor Blades or anything else I can get my hands on at a reasonable price ;)

buy biggest tip would be take a calculator if you go shopping in these places... firstly if it isnt food then add 17.5% onto the price then divide the quanity with the price. If that figure is cheaper than buy it indivually from tesco/lidl/aldi then buy it, if not its not a bargian. ours is a trade account only... however its very lose... ie you can work in a company and if they are registered you get a card too. We have lots of tesco shoppers in our store.

Also just because its been reduced doesnt mean its a bargian. we have a catologue each week/fortnight with 'cheaper' products listed ~ most of them arnt cheaper when you work out price per item. I must say though you get some smashing offers, like a 8ft intex swimming pool £9.99 and a 10ft garden table and chairs £40 but it does depend...

please be aware though by the end of the month we will be stocking xmas items/gifts/trees :rotfl:by xmas day i am fed up of it :o
  • I always but lots of anti-perspirant and shower gel from Boots in the New Year; they always have loads of the Christmas gift packs knocked down by as much as 80% so I fill my boots, as it were!

Oh yeah, and I pay for them with my Boots points.

I tend to bulk buy quite a bit of stuff, toiletries when they are on offer, washing powder tablets, etc, i also use costco for their meat, bacon, parmesan, marmite, herbs etc and other stuff that is good value. It means that there are weeks when i don't have to shop at all as I have lots of stuff already in and the big packs last much longer. i don't stock kitchen rolls etc much as i have nowhere to store big items.

PS PaP Costco had the first of their xmas lines in this week too.

washing powders the best in our store ~ 120 washes bogof ~ £12.99 ber box, vat - discount = £13.29 for 240 washes :j i must say i dont buy much in bulk from my place but cards are good too. Food is very hit and miss but i get a box of 48 crisps (low call) for just over £3 so that cant be bad :D

and groan at christmas, its not too bad as its usually in the middle of our store but some bright spark has decided to park it outside my area of work... mmm great fun :rotfl:

Avon is on quidco too. So I have just had a delivery of shampoo, sum cream, smellies etc all on offer and got cashback on it as well. I will have the cleanest hair in the North West! x

I haqve to admit I bulk buy aswell. I even bulk buy meat, portion it off, and put in the freezer, literally filling it up from empty! I also tend to get kitchen and toilet roll by the shed load when they're on offer. If it saves you money and time, go for it!

The answer is I did, but as we are hoping to move countries soon I have started to cut down. Like you Crown I have been using up xmas toiletries. I have been putting all the shower gel etc into my hand wash dispenser! Doesn't seem to be any different!

But in the past I have got tinned stuff when on BOGOF, like beans etc, as well as toiletries, dishwasher tablets etc. Anything that will keep.

Yep, if it's worth it and I can afford it, though not usually in massive quantities as I haven't got much space. Am also using up Christmas toiletries at the mo (haven't had to buy soap for 9 months!) and freebies that I've sent off for (kept me in moisturiser for about 3 months and I've still got a few left).

In true money saving style I stopped using soap two years ago. It also has the added benefit that I haven't had to buy women drinks in the same period.
