We are a group of 9 ( 4 adults 5 children 7,7,5,4 & 1 ) We are long term fans of Alton Towers however after recent events the adults are not too worried about the thrill rides and are more looking to the childrens day , we have already booked a hotel near Alton towers for 2 nights in the summer holidays and are now considering alternatives for our trip and for a change and that may be better suited to our childrens ages , so does anyone have any recommendations, tips , views or deals on drayton manor or gullivers kingdom ?? Thanks in advance

Be sure to take them to the Splashland waterpark at Alton Towers. We found by finishing the day off in splashland, the kids tire themselves out splashing down the flumes whilst we alleviated our aching joints after a whole days walking, in the outdoor jacuzzi.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

If they like Thomas the tank engine try Drayton Manor, if they prefer cBeebies, stick with Alton Towers.0

It might not be the case when you go - but we've just been for a couple of days at AT and they were giving free return tickets just as you entered in compensation for the ride closures - had a fantastic time with two young kids there.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

All 3 parks will be fine and alton towers will be safer than ever, there will be a lot of extra checks going on and it may be quieter than it was before.
If you've booked everything go and have fun.
Gullivers is more kids/family orientated , less walking and more rides that kids will get on and has the splash zone and nerf zone as wellto extend the fun0 -
I would agree that Alton Towers will have done a lot of safety checks after the recent events, so that would not be a concern on my part and as another poster says it probably will be quieter. I have been to the Gullivers in Milton Keynes and I understand the one at Matlock is similar and I would agree that it is probably better for your children's age. Having said that Chessington is my favourite of all the parks as it has a zoo, sealife centre, animal shows as well as the theme park rides.0
