Ebay "Mark as payment sent"

On several occasions when I've bought something from a one-off private seller on Ebay, collected the item and paid cash, the seller hasn't revisited the listing to mark the item as paid for. Instead I've used the drop-down "Other options" below the "Pay now" button to "mark as payment sent". This then shows the item as paid for, removes it from my list of unpaid items, and stops Ebay from nagging me to pay for it.
I collected and paid cash the other day for an Ebay win from a retailer who was selling a trade-in item. It's still showing up as requiring payment and the "mark as payment sent" option is no longer available in the aforementioned drop-down option box. Does anyone know when and why the option was removed? I've emailed the retailer to ask him to mark the item as paid but no joy yet, possibly as it's a weekend.
