PPI Questionnaire

I have made a complaint to HSBC about £300 charged for PPI on a personal loan (2003-2005). I have received a questionnaire, which asks: "Please tell us as much as you can remember about:
1) where the sale took place - and who you spoke to at the financial business
2) the information you were given before you took out the insurance
3) how the cost, benefits and terms of the insurance were explained to yo
4) the questions you asked before taking out the insurance
5) why you decided to take out the insurance
"
I understand the reason for these questions - they are trying to establish if the PPI was missold.
However, I cannot remember much about what went on at the moment. I guess I will have to think back.
I argue that I did not need the insurance as it was just after I graduated in 2003 and I was living with my parents at the time saving for a mortgage. They were supporting me. I had no bills to pay and I do not think I was even paying rent. If I lost my job or became ill then they would of helped me.

None of that qualifies as reasons for mis-sale.I had no bills to pay and I do not think I was even paying rent.
Supporting you is one thing. Paying your debts is another. If I lost my job or became ill then they would of helped me.
That is generally not accepted by the ombudsman as good enough.
Mention it by all means. i suspect you will succeed, not because of your complaints reasons but because the amount involved means that auto-payout is likely.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
