Blue Badge Parking

Been thinking . We have a blue badge and display it when we need parking . the Parking powers could check if we had a disabled car by checking our tax exempt disc . How does that work now ? Can anyone use a blue badge for their cars now or does the powers have access to a registeration exempt machine to check .? I was wondering this because we went out in a relatives car last weekend with a wheelchair user family member and paid for parking when we might have been able to park for free . Its not much cash and that's not the issue just for future incidents
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world

A BB relates to the person, not the car.

You can use it in any car, not just ones that have disabled exemption.

Mojisola has given the correct answer, but I think you may be a tad confused/not up to date.

Who exactly are the 'Parking Powers'?

The Blue Badge is not in any way connected/associated with any particular car.

And do you realise that there are no windscreen VED 'tax' discs any more?

My dad (aged 97) no longer has a car or a driving licence, but he still has his Blue Badge which is displayed on every car in which he is a passenger.

From memory you used to only be able to use a BB when in a car with Tax exempt . I don't know as always had tax exempt car . thanks for your replies . Yes I know no tax disc anymore that's why I asked and the parking powers are the monkeys in uniform with a yellow line on their hat so you can park there at certain times .

If it was the case, it hasn't been for many years.

My parents had BBs for years but never had disabled tax exemption because the car was used by other people as well.

I always assumed BB holders knew the rules of the badge. Particularly that the badge is not registered to a vehicle but the holder. Meaning they can use ANY car they wish to display the badge in that they are using.

More importantly that a BB holder would know that the badge does not give the holder exclusive FREE parking in any car park that has BB bays.

If these two basic rules are confusing the holder, I dread to think what else the user does not know regarding BB policies.

I've honestly never seen such a creature. ;)

But if you mean Traffic Wardens they have been extinct in Scotland since 3rd February 2014.

Do they still survive in other parts of the country?

I think you may be confused, a blue badge is person related, can be used on any car. An exempt VED vehicle can only be used by or for the benefit of the disabled person.

Just to clarify, a BB does not apply to anything other than aparking in Council run car parks on a public road. It has absolutely no validity when parking on private land although many PPCs will argue otherwise.
