Did you try putting your postcode in here

    http://www.saorview.ie/get-saorview/make-the-switch/coverage-map/

I put mine and it says "coverage is a challenge in my area"

But I get full saorview channels on the 800+, think because I have a pretty good rooftop aeriel

Chunter you should really know what you are talking about before making that type of reply.

RTE1, RTE2 and TG4 ARE transmitted from the Black Mountain freeview transmitter in the north, search google for "black mountain freeview"

If your RTE 1/2 and TG4 are on channel 51-53 you are receiving via freeview.

If your RTE 1/2 and TG4 are on high channels e.g. 800+ you are receiving via saorview from a transmitted in the south.

It can be better to receive Saorview as it it higher quality picture and the freeview channels can blank if/when programs are on which a UK broadcaster has rights to.

For Saorview near Belfast you'll want to pick it up from Clermont Carn transmitter just over the border north of Dundalk.

You'll need a freeview hd box/receiver for both.
