Gosh Jacks, that sounds a right pain and rather scary as they are planning to do that to our local post office by having it move into the wh smith branch. Not happy either, the last time i went into Wh smith the young lad didn't bother saying a word to me, he didn't either tell me the cost, just put his hand out for the money.

It's a shame you can't do ebay as a result though but at least there is mystery shopping.

    Cheers sweetie,

They are a bit of a nightmare - dealing with all the lost parcels, the refunds and the claim forms is a right pain as well.

I'm such a "Mum" I can't bear it when people don't say please and thank you! :D

When they changed our Post Office over all the experienced staff were made redundant and WH Smith hired new ones at minimum wage.

Employment is pretty good around here - you get £7 an hour for bar work and £10 -12 an hour for cleaning - so the people who were prepared to work for only £5 something an hour are probably not the creme de la creme huh?

A lot of them are dead young (under 22's are cheaper aren't they??? ;) ) and they're all rubbish as well as rude!

I had to post an Amazon parcel the other day and at 5:20 with a 15 person queue behind me the annoying little herbert spent several minutes trying to persuade me to send my second hand paperback by Special Delivery "for only £7!!!"

I told him that since Second Class was only £1.92 he should stop wasting his breath - so then he tried to sell me a phone service and car insurance instead....

....Whilst the queue watched the clock tick round to closing time at 5:30.

It took 8 minutes to process my *one* second class parcel. (They've only got to stick a sticker on and take my money for goodness sake!)

I can't wait until their mystery shopper assigment comes up again! Mwahahahahahahahahaha!

Figured i would bump this thread up again as it seems to have gone very quiet!!

Have to admit i haven't done much towards making my money recently though:o

However have just finished work as it was only a training day so am ready to get cracking with the matched betting again and plump up my total. Am hoping to hit the charity shops next week and find some good books that i can list on amazon. I usually go for text books or educational books. The last book i sold on amazon was one from the charity shop which i bought for 80p and sold for £30, so not bad.

Good luck everyone with their challenge.:j

  • Hi everyone! I definitely think I'm not going to meet the £1000 total now, especially as the weather is so bad - I was going to do a couple of car boots, but it's too cold! I've been really busy at work, so I've let it slip a bit - I've been more focused this week, doing my daily clicks and signing up for quidco offers. I've also got a £10 John Lewis voucher from pigsback. Hopefully I'll get another one before Christmas, and I can treat myself to a weeks shopping at Waitrose. My brother quite often gives me a JL voucher at Christmas - he has no idea how useful it is for food in January!! :rotfl:

I really need a new car, but I think it will have to wait until next summer - hopefully mine will hold on until then! I won't get one on finanace, so I need to save about £3K:eek: , because I'm doing a lot of miles at work - need a reliable one. It would be great if I could make that money from extras!

Good luck everyone - I think anything we make extra helps.

    I'm nearly there.

Our car boot this sunday should put us over the top but I must admit I'm not looking forward to it at all as I'm feeling very cold today. :snow_laug :snow_grin :(

I haven't stashed all the money away, I've been paying debt off as fast as it's been coming in and it's paid for my eldest's birthday present (£200 worth of driving lessons) and four new tyres on our heap (another £200)

Both of which would have derailed the budget otherwise.

    I'm chuffed!

I'm hoping to be finished this week so that I can join the eBay neutral challenge next.

I reckon I've done just over a third on eBay and Amazon and about the same in Mystery shops plus a couple of carboot sales. (Three if we brave the cold this sunday!)

This challenge has been really good for me as a motivator, and it helps me to keep track of "extra" earnings so I can feel proud of what I've achieved which motivates me even more! :D

PS I've got my local Post Office's Mystery shop....:rotfl:

  • Jacks - well done on almost completing the challenge! I know what you mean about it helping to keep track of the extra money. I received about £150 from Quidco before I started the challenge, and now have no idea what I've done with it! Now I have a complicated spreadsheet telling me what is coming and from wear, and I save all the money. It's definitely really motivating. I want to challenge myself to paying the whole of the car from challenges, and I think it is achievable!

I must get motivated again with Ebay - about a year ago I had a bad experience with someone hacking my account, and everything went wrong with it. I must start again, as I had a little ebusiness selling beads I bought wholesale, and I could make £100 a month...I've still got loads of stock. That's a challenge for me.

My total has been rather stagnant for a while but the past few days i have been busy with daily clicks and back to matched betting.

Off out in a minute to do several mystery shops so that will be good for the total and the bank as funds are looking a little low!:o

Well done jpwhittle on all that money to add to the pot. :T It's great when you get money you weren't expecting.

Well done Jacks on being nearly there, impressive. Did you do the car boot on Sunday? Hope you have fun mystery shopping your local post office:rotfl:

Keep going Madcat girl because what ever you earn is more than what you had in the first place. Know what you mean about the car though, my money goes towards paying my never ending driving lessons!

    Yay! Done it!

Our car boot put us well over the top so although it was kinda hard work it was worth it.

I've just done the Post Office Mystery shop now and I got my least favourite member of counter staff who didn't let me down! He sighed and tutted and was generally rude and nasty to have to deal with - as well as slow, annoying and incompetent.

He was really horrible to the elderly lady who went before me who was somewhat hard of hearing, and I recorded it all. :D

I'm only getting paid a tenner for this job but honestly, I'd have done it for free.

Just off to write the report now....:rotfl:

  • well done everyone, this challenge is going well.

I'm into the final £50, things have slowed a bit over the past week as I am running out of things to sell! However, will be adding y change jar totals of dec 1st so should hit the target which will be such an achievement!
