Our new flat has a stoarge heater with only one dial on the front. They look like tanks!!
No name or model number on the front. They are too heavy to lift to look at the back.

Which is the dial for; input or output?

Any help appreciated.

I would think that on old storage heaters with only one dial, it would be used to control the input charge. I can't see any manufacturers designing a product without this basic control.

  • Thanks for your 'input' expresso :rotfl:

I thought that it would be an output because how else can you control the flow of heat coming out. I thought the input level might be kept constant
Funny we should drawn different conclusions.

If anyone knows better, please post!

You may be right but what is the point of storing more heat than is required. Personally I think that they are a waste of space as you can't really predict tomorrows temperature and how much heat will actually be required.

If it does control the output, I would think that you would hear a totally different sound when the control is turned compared to a simple rheostat type control, which would be virtually silent. Get rid of them would be my advice.

You may find the make / model number behind the lower install panel, where the supply cable enters.
