Knitting row marker

I am looking for something to clip onto my knitting pattern that will keep track of the row I am doing.
I have seen a magnetic strip on Amazon but at 10 pounds it is a little pricey.
Has anyone found anything suitable?
I keep the pattern upright on a music stand by my chair and although I have a stitch counter on my needle when I am looking at the row (especially if a cable pattern) on the pattern I sometimes end up doing the wrong row.
Hope that makes sense

I use a kirby grip from my hair to mark the row of my knitting pattern0

I have just been transported back into my distant past. I'm sure my mum used to use one for the same reason. I have been mulling over this for some time and could not think/remember what to use. So thank you.
If anyone has any other ideas I would love to hear them0 -
A post-it note can be used to great effect0

I just used to use a loop of brightly coloured wool and flip it to the later rows.0
