Declined for 123 account

My missus was declined for a 123 account the other day.

Having looked at her experian file, there is nothing on their that shouldn't be and she has a score of 999.

She did not apply for an overdraft either...

But this is I guess the issue, she applied in her married name (married last year) but nothing including her credit file reflects this yet. She's just not changed anything.

Do you think that would be the reason? If so could she simply apply again in her old name or would speaking to Santander resolve it?

She's soon to be R85, so we want the 3% if we can get it!

    Well it will not help.
Appeal in writing might be but not with speak directly to them .

If you speak to them, they will not give you any meaningful answer ...
The generic answer is that " it does not meet the strict criteria, no further explanantin will be given even you ask them further ... "

    Absolute rubbish.

They are human beings with intelligence.
You may have had a bad experience with a member of staff, I have not. BUT will say , book an appointment , you need someone who can look at the whole picture. Junior staff do not delve into the problem.

I also got declined for a 123 account without an overdraft. I have no outstanding debts and as far as I know all my accounts are in good standing.

I've been waiting for my Experian credit report for nearly a month now. Apparently they are still doing some checks on my identity which will "be complete within 2 working days". Perhaps they meant weeks? Absolutely terrible service. I'm starting to wonder if someone has stolen my identity.

I spoke to Santander and the man I spoke to said "I can't say why you were declined. We only get a one word response to the credit check and for you it was declined. You'll have to get your credit report from Experian to find out".

He also said that if I correct something on the report within 1 month of my application then I might still be accepted. But that boat has now sailed. Thanks Experian. :wall:

    Absolute rubbish hmmm

I do not know about you but I have open, close reapply a current account as well as credit cards more than a few dozen times for stoozing purposes and if I got rejected that is the standard answer I have got .

Also, if you search the forum regarding this issue you will find out that general people experience same to what I have said.

Please differentiate between appeal in writing with to call them, as in an appeal process other people, more often a more senior underwriters will get involved to look into the case and evidence ...

Anyway they are under no obligation to give you answer why the reject you .... It is up to them to accept or to reject the people they like and they do not like and they have not broken any rule and law in this way ...

I'm having a 999 score, too - because I've got only 5.5 years of address history in the UK so Experian's system can't calculate my score, this is why it is 999, they explain it somewhere on their website.
