Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th June - what small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Today I will:
Check online banking
Make soup for lunch and something in slow cooker for tea rather than hitting Asda to spend £30
Buy meat for sunday dinner tomorrow rather than hitting Asda to spend £30 (notice a pattern? :-) )
Sit down with DH to go through plan for rest of month
Not use gas fire unless it gets really chilly
Find fun, free things for kids to do indoors (thinking blanket fort, make-your-own-wordsearches, jenga)
Have a good weekend everyone!0 -

Well, DD has turned up, after a stressful OFSTED week, and gone to bed, and left baby GD with me :rotfl: She is asleep at the moment though I have sneaked on here.
List for today:
Check banks (done)
Look after baby, by the looks of it :rotfl:
Made some scones first thing (quick and easy
)
HM meals from stores
Aiming for a NSD
Rainy here today, so unlikely to need to water anything, but I will check some of the garden pots just to be sure
Hope everyone has a good weekend

Afternoon, debt busters 😀
Today I will get 15 clubcard points from wombled receipts added to my card.
Payday on Monday so just this weekend to get through with as few spends as possible. DH is going to pay for a small shop today as we're out of cat food and loo roll etc.
I'm kicking myself that I didn't take last week off instead of this week as I found an email on my freelance account offering me work for last week and I have missed out on being paid twice for one week (paid leave.) There is other work about for next week but all of them tax at source which might flag it up at work if the tax office start adjusting my code whereas the one offering work last week pay gross and by the time I had to pay tax on it my maternity cover stint would have ended.
To be continued...
They offered me a week in August but their press date is the same as ours so there's no way I could take that week off. Maybe it's just not meant to be but at least I know they are still actively wanting me to work for them (especially after I threatened them with the small claims court when they took 3 months to pay me last time :rotfl: ) They book people for 2 weeks, six times per year and though they are slow in paying their day rate is good and if I am mortgage free by then working for them alone would cover all my outgoings.
Talking of mortgages etc. I'm still officially off the market but still keeping an eye on what's for sale and have identified some flats that I would consider living in if a ground floor one came up (a second floor one has just sold) as the room sizes are very generous with both bedrooms being a double and there is a second loo (always a consideration :rotfl:) and they overlook the river. So I have at least expanded my roads I'd consider living in by 25% :rotfl:and the prices of the flats would mean I would be mortgage free rather than just reducing it.
I've just wombled another 5 Clubcard points to be added the next time I visit, I thought it would be pushing my luck to go to customer services twice in one day!
Sadly one of DH's ex bandmates died suddenly on Wednesday, we don't know why only that it was after a short illness but DH spoke to him on Monday and he was fine then. It is truly awful news as he was the primary carer for their little boy who is only 4 and who must be feeling totally lost and confused. As well as being DH's friend they also live a few doors down from us so I'm going to go down and let his wife know that I am off next week if she needs any practical help. I don't know her well as she always stayed home to look after their son whenever there was a gig and I'm rubbish at saying the right thing but if I learned anything from my dad dying it's that there is no right or wrong thing to say so I will bite the bullet and I can still shop/wash up/childmind/whatever as good as the next person if it's all getting too much for her.
DS has persuaded me to put him on my insurance so he can get more driving practice, I have been resisting because he hates me telling him what to do but he has been warned that at the first strop he is walking home. I need to look into adding him when I get paid on Monday.
I have sorted all my energy readings to look into changing suppliers next week. I must read up on the best deals.
That's all I can think of for now, have a lovely weekend everyone!
