            I suspect there is a mixup in communication.
 The lender saying they won't let the person take over the mortgage has become won't let them pay.0
- 
            Legally, the building society had a contract with the mortgagee, who has since died. Therefore there is now no contract, and the outstanding balance is due to the building society. .
 I just checked my T&C and the terms say.You are "the borrower" any reference to you will include your successors or anyone that takes on your obligations under the Mortgage0
