PPI and NHS staff

Someone has told me that banks shouldn't have offered PPI to NHS employees. Is this correct and if so, presumably as an NHS employee I can submit a claim on that basis. I still have PPI on my credit card but as it was so long ago can't recall if I was mis-sold or not. I also recall something about not cancelling the PPI before putting in a claim. I really don't know what to do about this. Any advice much appreciated.
PS my card is with HSBC.

What you have been told is rubbish. Only armed forces or policemen shouldnt have been sold PPI.

Depends on the type of PPI. If the PPI does not pay out in addition to work benefits then its a strong complaint reason. If it does pay out in addition to work benefits then its a weak complaint reason.
