Edinburgh hotel

I will be in Edinburgh for one night (a Thursday) with my daughter. We will be arriving by train about 5.30pm, and are going to Edinburgh University open day on the Friday, then returning home on the Friday night. We would like a nice hotel that is convenient for Waverley station and buses for the University. Has anyone got any recommendations? Don't want really cheap! Have plenty of Clubcard vouchers as well.

I stayed in Edinburgh for one night last year at the Travelodge Edinburgh Central in St. Mary's Street. From what I recall it was only a short walk from the train station. It was certainly clean and decoration seemed fresh. The service from the staff was of a very high standard.

I also had a meal and drink in their bar and again it was excellent. It will certainly be my first choice when I next visit Edinburgh. Their normal rate seems to be seems to be £66 per room per night.

Also if you book through R-points or maybe some of the other cashback websites I think you can get a few pounds cashback as well.

no recommendations, however just want to say you might struggle as the festivals are on at the moment and most places are booked out

stay anywhere you fancy. the uni is near every where. it is small city. travelodge is usually good or try one of the hundreds of B & B's. if you are coming after the festival there should be plenty of choice but book in advance.

I actually stayed at the University for one night last month. It was in Pollock Halls beside the CommonWealth Swimming pool. The accommodation was really good.
Not sure if it is still available now that term is starting but here is the website address http://www.accom.ed.ac.uk/ .
