Credit checks for current bank account

Hi all,
I just wanted to ask a question re: current accounts and credit checks.
I recently applied for a credit card and was refused. I don't know why - I'm assuming it's because I've moved a lot over the past year and am not on the electoral role.
I now want to apply for a bank account with an overdraft facility. I'm a bit concerned that I will get refused for this too. I have never been refused for anything apart from the credit card.
I was wondering whether it would be worth me applying for this card? As I don't want a lot of negative footprints all over my file. Thankyou
