Declined!

This'll make a few people laugh...

I completed my IVA in April and recently thought I'd apply for a financial product from Co-op (who I've banked with for the last 5.5years). So you might be thinking a loan or a credit card, in which case I'd fully expect to be turned down - but no, this was for a standard savings account so I could start to save up for a new car.

Apparently, Co-op don't think I'm credit worthy enough to keep my money with them!

I did think about complaining but instead I'll just wait until the IVA drops off my file next year and then I'll take my business elsewhere.
Unsecured Debt at start of IVA in 2009 = £51,734 :(
Debt free as of March 2015!!!!:D:j:j:j:j

good on you just sack them off they wont be around much longer for good anyway. Try and find someone loyal i found sainsburys savings good online and also good instore options to add money when paying at the til
  • I was in the same position after a bankruptcy and soon found other companies who wanted my custom (strangely Co-op offered an ISA but not a savings account??). Actually they did me a favour as their rates are rubbish anyway.

I have savings accounts with Nationwide, Virgin and Yorkshire Building Society so you can easily find someone who will be happy to look after your cash!
  • Hubby got this on Friday with Nationwide. We finished our IVA in 2011. To say we were surprised is an understatement but on looking on Experian we realised the IVA has never fallen off the credit file.
I've just had it removed but the decline is affecting it now.
    Sigh.

    Hi Mummyisbeauty

It might be worth you adding a Notice of Correction to your file to mitigate the effect of the decline, pointing out that Nationwide's search was carried out while there was still out of date information on there. Might just help you overcome similar problems with other banks in the near future. More info:
