recommend a free blog site.

Having just done a weeks walk with friends I would like to do a blog about it for all to see.
How easy is it and which sites are free without too many adds etc?

I'd suggest Wordpress. You get your own https://www.yourname.wordpress.com url and it's free, super-easy and self hosted. It can be connected easily to Facebook/Twitter so that it automatically 'shares' your posts as you publish them, and friends and anyone else can enter their email address to be notified whenever you put up a new post.

Go to wordpress.com if you want to sign up for the free hosted version.

If later down the line you decide you'd like to pay to self-host and/or transition to your own domain (i.e. https://www.yourname.com) then you have the options to either pay Wordpress to set it up for you, or you can go it alone without too much difficulty if you are reasonably tech-savvy and willing to do a bit of Googling as exporting all of your data (posts, pages etc) is a one click procedure so possibly not worth bothering if it's just a personal hobby blog.

Second the suggest for Wordpress, it is very versatile. You can get plugins for so many things you should be covered for most things that you might want to do with your blog.

Also the themes mean that you don't need to be good at designing the look either.

HELP!!!! I spent ages putting it all together on a wordpress free site but now cannot get back into it and none of my friends can either!

Opened OK for me, plus the images, using Firefox

There does not appear to be a "next page" link, or "about" [home page ] maybe that is the problem?
