Do a competition - forget about it, if you win fine, but if you keep a tally of how many you don't, you wouldn't bother to doing any.
Personally I don't see any point keeping track of what you don't win and am quite happy with what I have had.

Great point. My feeling is your are completely right. Being a science geek, it's not in my nature to just do what you do. I need some facts, figures and patterns. It's not a good domain to do that as it is so random but I just like to know what I can about such things.

I want to try comping out of interest and to satisfy my curiosity but to make it fun I need to add my geeky twist.

My opinion is if you spend an hour every weekday comping and win on average £100 (I have just plucked the figures out of the air so don't shoot me down for them) a week of items but if you were to do an extra hour a day in your job you would earn say £150 (after tax) then it's not worth it for the money. This is completely overruled if you enjoy it and by the luck element that one day you might win the £400k house so I do get this. Also note with me saying £100 that by the nature of comping it will not be so easy to give a figure. I was just meaning if you've been doing it for a year and won about £5200 of items that is approx £100 a week.

It's just this is a money saving forum and I can imagine some people are here to win items to get money from it. Similar to premium bonds in a way, people like the idea of one day the big jackpot could come and that's great.

I'm just trying to get people to think, not ruin any fun. I'm not here to be against comps so please don't take it the wrong way. If you have fun, great and if you win even better.

I will get on to making my post about what I'm going to do so maybe you can see where I'm coming from.

    Cheers
  • hi everyone,

i started comping about june I THINK!!!!

Have won a few little items, abook from citv, a bib ha,ha, head phones for a computer worth £79 and more recently an eternity puzzle from metro. All small wins but they soon add up price wise. Also two coke vouchers (boots comp) and SIX pirelli song vouchers, great for my daughters ipod.

Most of them just turn up in the post without any warning and some you don't even know where they came from. It took six weeks of solid entering daily before the wins started coming. But like the saying goes you have got to be in it to win it. Alot of them you don't know for about a month after the comp closes. So all those that have failed to win, don't lose hope, keep going and enter as many as you can to boost your chances.

Eventually you will win something!!!! I am just waiting for something big all though I am grateful for everything i have recieved!!

will keep my fingers crossed for you all!!

Ive been comping for about a year now and have won well over £1000 worth of prizes, some small and some medium, but havent really won any big big prizes.

Alot of the time I dont get any wins for a while then several at once.

The best prizes have to be those that come in the post without you realising you have won!

I've been doing the comps here for about 6 months now, I've done heaps per day for just around the last 3 months though.

I've won £25, concert tickets and a cookbook....nothing big or major yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I think I understand what you mean about it being not the most efficient way of making money. If I worked an extra shift or two in my annual leave (I don't get paid for all the overtime I already do) then I would be better off. But my work and mental health wouldn't be: I need that time off!

I'm enjoying comping, even though I've not won much so far, and look upon it as a hobby which pays a little, and stops me from frittering money away. :o

I am realistic and don't expect to win big prizes (although that would be nice....).

to be honest its better no to expect to win anything big when we all started entering the fanta competition,i was thinking god i wish i could win a ds light for the kids, loads of people had been winning them, then when i got the fonecall to say id won the whole package i was gobsmacked as i was expecting it to be a ds light so it came as a real ig shock as i wasnt expecting to win anything like that and it was such a great feeling, comes as more of a suprise too rather than expecting to win summat big
    It`s getting to the point
  • Hi I started comping end of July, so not long really, not bothered what i win, I enjoy entering & if I win it will be a bonus.
I would like to win something though anything really to get the ball rolling, unrealistically everytime the phone rings, I think " I've won something! " of course I haven't, but it adds a bit of excitement to the day.
I also love to hear about everyone elses wins!
So good luck to everyone & let us know what you get.
Comping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

I've never been particularly lucky with competitions, raffles etc, so when I won a book last week I was so excited! If I won a games room I would probably need to be sedated, so I'm happy to start small! :D

    i don't think i'm lucky on comps
although i did win a wooden fort when i was a kid and was pretty good at schol fairs
i'm more lucky in life i guess

have a great job and have always been good financially(through hard work of course)
nothing has ever been on a plate for me
i'm gonna keep going though would love to wina car or a holiday even a new computer.
my 1st win on here was two tickets to hallam foe which i gave away
