Barclay's online banking is very poor

Options
I have been switched over to Barclays from Woolwich and cannot belive how bad the online service is. The pages are very poorly laid out and only have limited functionality compared to other online services I have used.

Specifically:

- You can only see 30 days worth of transcations so you are unable to compare spending month by month. This stops you looking back at your spending over the last quarter
- You are not able to look ahead at standing orders or payments that are due to leave your account during this month. This stops you planning ahead
- There is a limit on the total you can pay in bills from online in any one day of £1000. This means it could take 3 logons over 3 days to pay one credit card bill of £2,900. In the mean time you cannot pay any other bills. This then forces you on to use their terrible telephone banking system to pay most of your bills! This is even the case when you are trying to pay a Barclaycard bill! Their system are very poorly integrated!

Barclays seem to have taken much of the functionality away that makes online banking so useful.

The Woolwich system was much more flexible!

My advice would be go to a proper online bank like First Direct or IF..

I've had the opposite experience of their online system; I find it very easy to use. :)

You can see transactions from more than 30 days - I look over the past few months frequently. On the page of transactions, you can hit 'change' at the top and put the dates you want to see transactions from and to.

You can see standing orders and payments - they're in the 'all payment options' on the right. Go to "View or Change Payments" and you can select what type of payments to see, when they're paid and how much will leave your account. I don't use it a lot, personally, as I know what DDs and SOs I have leaving my account every month anyway.

And I've certainly paid bills of more than £1000 in one hit - I've paid over £3000 for a holiday before in one go.

So the system certainly does all these things for me. :)
' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

I think the £1000 limit was only recently introduced due to fraud, but I beleive it will be removed once you get your "PINsentry" device. I too find it limited compared to my previous experience with LloydsTSB, it is cetainly much slower (sometime so slow that you get fed up click on a button again and it logs you out), you also cannot view your bank accounts and barclaycard on the same site. Surely it's better to set up online payments on the credit card ebanking site. These would be debit card transactions and presumably escape any £1000 limit on transactions made via ebanking. When paying on the credit card site, I find that the CC is credited earlier (sometimes the day of the transaction) and is debited from my bank account later. In contrast, when paying via the current account ebanking site, the debit comes off immediately but it doesn't reach the CC account for 3-4 working days.

it is indeed poor, and one of the reasons we ditched barclays and went to the one account - what a difference!!

The Barclays site has not changed in all the years I've been with them (20+) - it desperately needed a revamp.

Just been on the Phone to Barlcays and they have comnfirmed the £1000 online banking bill payment will remain for the forseeable future.

The explanation for this is that Barclays was a particular target for online fraudsters! And that to limit the exposure they have limited online bill payment to £1000 per Day. This really brings in to question the security of their system in to question as other online banks do not have this limit! Very Worrying!..

I really considering my options as their online system is just not fit for my needs and maybe be seriously flawed!!
