Argos Misleading Website Listing

Just wondering what others think of this and whether I was right to stand my ground .
A few days ago when looking for glass shelves for my bathroom I saw what I wanted on the Argos website , The listing was for a pair of glass shelves with brackets and I paid particular attention to the brackets as I wanted ones where the fixing screws were concealed .
I ordered two sets and when they arrived the brackets were different ..they were cheap and nasty with poor welding and the screw holes were on show ..they were more suitable for a garage or shed not a bathroom .
I contacted Argos by email and someone 'phoned me and said it was either I return them for a refund or replacement ( in the hope another set would have the other brackets ) ,or Argos could pay me £5 . After discussion we agreed that I could have a look for suitable brackets and get back to them to see Argos would pay the cost .
I found some cheap ones at £0.99 each on Ebay and called Argos and after some more discussion where they were reluctant to pay more than the £5 and my asking to speak to a supervisor ( usual response ..they'll only tell you the same ) the girl came back ..said she couldn't find a supervisor but on this occasion they'd sent out a cheque for the £7.92.
What is the situation with something like this ....Can Argos absolve their responsibilities by either offering a refund or an amount that does not reflect the cost of getting what I ordered. I'm definitely going to have to pay more to get brackets the same as was showing on the website image ....

All you were entitled to was a refund or replacement as the goods did not conform to contract (meaning you return the goods). Anything beyond that is at their discretion.
You have no (legal) complaint.0
