you need to install a real firewall

    http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/download_firewall.html?currency=GBP&region=United%20Kingdom&country=GB

and as pointed out by pchelpman your infection is the result of your use of P2P filesharing programs and smilies

I have similar problems. I suddenly am getting hundreds of pop ups, ads, blank pages and weird goings on. Home page keeps changing etc. Windows defender tells me that the problem is : BrowserMBrowserModifier:Win32/Fotomotoodifier:Win32/Fotomoto. I remove this but it keeps coming back. I am running adaware, avg etc to no avail. Can anyone tell me , (very simply as I am not a techie) how to identify the problem and how to get rid of it permanently. Thanks in advance
