At last a use for empty tetrapacks!

My aunt puts a plastic bag in an empty tetrapack and uses it to freeze sauces etc. When it is frozen she removes the oblong package and stacks it in her freezer.
I have found that it is better to freeze liquids in a container, then remove the frozen block to a plastic bag for long term storage. If you freeze in the bag in the container, then folds of plastic get trapped in the frozen block and the whole thing has to be defrosted very thoroughly before all the contents can be removed0 -
moanymoany - I wouldn't freeze things in tin cans. You know how they say not to store opened cans in the fridge cos the food can get tainted? Same might go for storing food in the freezer.
Anyway cylinders don't pack as well in the freezer!
I use old tetrapaks to make wallets with insulating tape...

I've got quite a lot of them now, they look dead cute, but I'm not sure what to do with them! Think I'll sell them for a novelty 50p at christmas when my mum sells all her arty farty stuff and christmas cards at home...0 -

I've used empty food tins to freeze cooked beans and soup. When they are frozen I run them under a tap to loosen, then store them in a bag.0
