Avast Internet Security version, for free. I've not installed it, so I can't say how long it's for (6 months or 1 year), but it's the first time I've ever seen Avast IS for free.

Available for: 2 days, 2 hours, 33 mins.
P.S. On the same site, OkayFreedom VPN unlimited for a year, looks Okay.

You're thinking of Avast free version. The offer above is Avast Internet Security, which is a paid product normally, at £49 a year on their site.

I think you will find that this is a trial which will expire after 7 days or so...to keep it running, you will have to buy it
If you have the free version, you can upgrade to this trial and get the full version at half price
If you look at the pic in the ad, it shows the trial version in operation0 -

I've been using Avast (Free version) for quite a while now and it appears to do the job OK. One drawback is that it keeps sending popups asking me to switch to a paying version which I have ignored. Avast was recommended to me by the Guys on this forum and the few problems I had to start with, were quickly resolved after I asked these techies on here. They really know their stuff and have always been a great help.

Has anyone tried downloading and using this yet?
It gives you a file called avast.zip to download but it seems ok https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/43f313d9b967168ae669bcaa1e8c706c453253ea6891d83ef679bb7a1c71a8c5/analysis/1434029463/
I might be wrong but I think it's free for the year.0 -

Right click the tray icon and put it in Gaming mode if it bothers you.I might be wrong but I think it's free for the year.[/QUOTE
It's a 180 day trial for new users.0 -
Having got annoyed with the popups asking me to upgrade I finally gave in when they offered me a loyalty discount for having used Avast Free for several years. At £9.99 to upgrade to Pro I couldn't resist - but expect they will charge me the full price next year.0

It would be nice if someone did post to confirm how long it's for, whether it's 6 months or a year.
The file you get off windows deal is safe, it's a safe site. I've had other free software from it over the years.
The zip will contain the setup for Avast IS, and possibly a file with a serial code, or a link to where a code can be obtained.0
