Hi

Just want to get a handle on a fencing quote I've received, too expensive or too cheap?

Remove and dispose of existing rotten fence comprising 14 x 5ft overlap panels, dig out all existing rotten wooden posts and concrete. Erect new fence with 14 x 5ft tanalised overlap panels, and tanalised posts concreted in. Quoted £1,400. I'm in Leicestershire.

For a very similar scope, I had about 5 quotes a year ago (in Surrey) which ranged from £800 to £1600 (2 quotes took several weeks and I had given up waiting for them!). I went for the 2nd cheapest and negotiated it down to the cheapest quote.

The fence panels and posts were 'pressure-treated', 'tanalised' sounds more expensive!
