Help! For the last few days I cannot open windows live mail without inputting my password which it doesn't accept. I've not changed my password and haven't been asked for it before.
Also when using my printer (Epson stylus SX415) I can print a test page but when I send something to the printer it whirs and clicks but there is nothing in the printing queue.
I am running windows 8.1 and Kaspersky internet security but as this has happened only recently I'm under the impression that it might be a windows update. I have tried system restore which failed due to a windows error in which it couldn't complete. I have had no problems with windows 8.1 since I upgraded in January this year.
I have tried several virus scans ie. Kaspersky full scan, malwarebytes, cc cleaner. There seem to be a few programmes to rid me of the windows live mail code ie. 0x800ccc90 and 0x800ccc92. but I'm reluctant to use these as I'm a bit wary of downloading a virus etc.

After spending hours and trying everything I could think of, I solved the problems. I believe that it should help in any OS.
I have W7pro, IE9 and WLM 2011.
The error message was: "an incorrect password was entered" with server error: 0x800CCC90 and WLM error:0x800CCC92. It wasn't true. There are several forums with the same problem and the same error messages.
I changed passwords and could log in from "Webmail" with no problem. I had no problem using WLM with other email accounts (Shaw).
SOLUTION
When opening a new email account in WLM, you have to fill in information in shown windows. The first one is "email address" (e.g.: *** Email address is removed for privacy ***). When you come to the next page, there is "log on user name" window. The program (WLM) already filled it in from the entered email ("john" taken from the email address). You have to change it to fill in full email address (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) as the "log on user name". Then it works with no error messages.
WLM error "an incorrect password was entered" is missleading. It's not an error with a password. It's the error in WLM program, taking only the front part of the email address as a default for the user name."0 -
Not sure his 'solution' is the entire picture Andy. My wife's W7 laptop exhibited the 'incorrect password' popup for the first time today and her full email address is already exhibited in server settings. I did manage to get it to work by retyping her password in the popup message. Just have to wait and see if it was a one-off glitch or an on-going problem.... Thanks for the replies, I have tried typing in the full e-mail address and different passwords but still no joy. The funny thing is I have three e-mail accounts, one main one and two throw away accounts all with the same password, but it loads the other accounts with no trouble and doesn't ask for a password. I'm sure I had this years ago but I can't remember how I solved it but I know it was a relatively quick fix when I worked it out.0

Is it perhaps something on the first page of the account properties - a tick box - this (something) requires authentication????0
