Dividend Payment and Selling Shares

Hi all
I am not sure this is in the correct forum, apologies if it isn't
I am looking for some advice, I have some shares I wish to sell but before I do I want to receive the last dividend payment.
The record date was the 22nd of May, the payable date is the 3rd of July. Am I ok to sell the shares before the 3rd and I would still be eligible for the dividend?
Thank for any advice offered

Mortgage Was £153,000 - Now at £135,391 - 199 remaining payments, target 173 - Now Saving instead of Overpaying to build a one off overpayment once fixed deal ends, as savings paying 3.65% than mortgage rate. - Emergency Fund £4,935 / £6,800 73.0% - Age for early Retirement 66 Currently, but aiming for earlier, number of months to go 147

If the ex div date was 22nd May then you'll get the divi even if you sell now.0

Thank you Andy, this is new to meMortgage Was £153,000 - Now at £135,391 - 199 remaining payments, target 173 - Now Saving instead of Overpaying to build a one off overpayment once fixed deal ends, as savings paying 3.65% than mortgage rate. - Emergency Fund £4,935 / £6,800 73.0% - Age for early Retirement 66 Currently, but aiming for earlier, number of months to go 1470 -
Though the share price would have fallen to take account of the declared dividend.0

Indeed - the share price generally drops by the amount of the dividend (give or take any other daily fluctuations) on the ex-dividend date. So there's no advantage to waiting for the dividend to be paid before you sell, other than possibly the different tax implications of receiving the money as a dividend or (hopefully) a capital gain.0
