Photo editor

Options
Hi
I have been sent a CD of our family photos but they have scanned the album one page at a time which could contain up to 6 photos. Is there an easy way to edit these so they display one photo at a time?

Thanks for any help.

You could always use the Snipping Tool

Yes, use the snipping tool within windows 7/8
Or alternatively, open them with PAINT , then cut out the bits you want, and paste them into a new image and save them individually.

The quality is going to be terrible, should really have scanned each photo individually at high resolution.

Not sure why if whole page is scanned at high resolution what difference does it make unless scanned whilst in plastic sleeve or under plastic film.

Because a large area scanned at high res will produce a file size that is likely to cause issues for the vast majority of PCs.

The initial raw image will be massive, if the scanner/PC doesn't hang when trying to compress that, i'd be impressed. But that's one stage of compression and quality loss.

Then after that your going to be cutting that image up and then re-compressing the image to save it as a smaller file, that's a 2nd stage of compression and quality loss.

Or you could just scan a single image each time, at max resolution and end up with a workable file size.

I regular scan at 600 dpi no problem for reprinting or displaying on pc screen what resolution do you think they need. 300dpi will be ok for printing same size and displaying on most pcs. OK they will loss some quality by re compression after crop but unless the quality of originals is exceptional or high compression is used I doubt the difference will be that great.

I scanned MIL's photo album a page at a time in Paintshop Pro at 600dpi (IIRC) and have since copied individual photos from the scans using the Select tool in PSP then saving as a new image. Takes time, but works OK.

Other option - I have an Epson Perfection 4490 scanner as well as my Epson WF-3520 AIO Printer/Copier/Scanner, if I put a page of photos on either, the Epson scanner software allows me to select multiple images from the one page then save them as individula images! I do this from PSP so I can, if necessary, use the PSP Photo Enhance tools before saving.
