Help needed- claiming from GE Capital- possible?

Hi all,
I'm brand new to the site as my head is absolutely battered from reseaching how to submit a PPI claim! Hoping there are knowledgable people here who can give me some advice as I am a complete novice but determined not to pay a company to investigate this for me.
So, as a student in around 2000 I took out store cards with Topshop and Oasis. I think both were owned by GE Capital Bank who from what I can gather were taken over by Santander. I am almost certain I was missold PPI on both cards. I can't remember exactly when I paid them off but I think it was around 2006/7. I haven't got ANY details of the accounts- no account numbers or anything. Obviously I know my addresses from the time I held the cards.
What do I do? Who do I contact- Santander? Or someone else? Is it even worth my time or will Santander throw out my claim based on the length of time since I had the cards and the fact that it wasn't their company?
I really appreciate your advice- I'm happy to do the legwork myself but could really do with some pointers as to how to start.
Thank you!

Not sure if this is any help . I had a GE Money storecard ( Dorothy Perkins . This was closed just before I submitted a claim for mis- sold PPI in 2010 and opened pre-regulation . I sent my original claim for mis-selling to Santander who , after forwarding information they requested ( I was un-employed and had to send proof from HMRC ) rejected it . In April this year they re-opened the claim and it was upheld. I think it helped that I had a copy of the original form I signed in store plus documentation proving I was unemployed .
Hope this helps with who to claim from if you go ahead0 -
