Microsoft updates hangs and computer wont shut down When I go to turn off XP to shut down my computer it comes up that Microsoft updates is downloading.
It starts on the first update and hangs there. The only way to close down is to unplug the power.
I tried disabling updates and that works fine only that means I can now use the computer normally but cant use the updates.
If I try to get the updates manually the same thing happens.
I thought it could be just the first update and if i could miss that one it may run all the others but I cant find out which update it is thats causing the blockage. I cant find a way to know this.
I thought to maybe run an XP install disk and see if theres a repair option but i'm not sure wether thats such a good idea
Can anyone please advise
Thanks

Microsoft update or Windows update? You could try Autopatcher XP to download all patches and install them offline. It could also be the infamous svchost 100% CPU issue.0
