First Direct - soft search available?

About 4-5 years ago I had a bunch of defaults, so my credit worthiness has been pretty badly affected. Since then I've become debt free and done everything I usually can to build up my credit rating.
I'm looking to switch my current account over to First Direct because Martin L always likes to do a sing and dance about them :money:
However I'm applying for a mortgage in around 9 months time, so any failed credit applications will look bad on my rating. Is it worth the risk just for a decent bank account and free £100? Do First Direct offer a soft search so I can try before I buy?

If it's only a bank account and your mortgage app is the best part of a year away, I wouldn't be too concerned.
In either case, failure or success doesn't show on your report. Just the search.0 -
Cheers, appreciated. Probably worth a crack then.0
