Hiya,
My friend recently did her bedroom all gothic and although not normally my taste I have to say I was impressed!!!
She did the walls a dark blood red colour with black woodwork, ceiling and coving. She couldn't afford an old victorian gothic 4 poster bed so she brought one of those mosquito net things that hang from the ceiling and go around your bed also in black. She brought some large old chunky framed mirrors from the charity shop and sprayed them black- she has a huge one opposite that bed and it looks great! Black blinds and red carpet with black and red satin bed sheets and cushions. She has a rug on the floor in bright red of a pair of lips. Everything else is hidden in her built in wardrobe.
She wants to do some stenciling on the walls (in black) of swirling, spiralling patterns to match the mirrors...
Hope thats been of some help!0 -
Gothic suggests arches to me - could you do an arched effect on his walls using the two paints? I don't know how big the room is - but say red for the main part and black for the upper
(very rough drawing)
Not sure what you'd do with the ceiling - black might look a bit too overpowering. Or maybe you could fix up some draped muslin in darker colours, fixed to the ceiling but gathered into the middle - not sure of the safety aspect re lighting for this.
Candles in black sconces in a fleur-de-lis shape? And are you definitely having a carpet or would you consider a dark wood/laminate for the floor? With rugs.
I also love the gargoyles in this!0 -
Maybe I should get a life instead of messing about on paint at half past stupid o'clock. But, here's one or two I did earlier;
Here we have arches complete with swirly patterns. In a choice of colours0 -
