Erm it won't work unless you have a digital TV card in the PC that is compatible with the VM service.

  • Did you buy from PC world by any chance......becauce their staff are like monkies.....im 15 and i outsmarted the tech guy who was trying to fix my PC :D

Anyway, only way i can think of is it use RF out, but thet will just get you a basic picture, no advanced recording features or anything like that.

I herd u can get a special device that u can put your VM card in and it will decode the channels, never had any experiance with it though.

If it's not a digital compatible card it won't work as the analogue feed is not available from some VM boxes in some areas as it is being switched off eventually anyway ;)
  • there are a few scart to phono/s-video stype cables about that are able to give you a signal from the vbox to the pc from the scart output just as it does to a vhs or dvd recorder
as far as i know you can't get some sort of card reader to take the virgin smartcard from the box as the box and card are paired together when installed.
virgin won't let you use anything else such as replacement box or some of the high end tv cards that actualy take the cable tv socket without the need for a decoder box. its against their terms and conditions for you to use anything but what they give you.
basically you need to output from the rf (aerial) or scart to your pc tv in.

Possibly the basic freeview box you get with the phone package?

yes the basic box when I took out BB and phone I got the box with so many free channels free for 12 months but if I have to start buying more stuff to use it it's not really worth it. I hant got a TV ariel close to the PC to use normal TV but the cable for VM is right by it so I thought this would be the best way. How else can I contect without running an ariel into the lliving room?
