Depends, if he is taken seriously ill would he be happy staying in a hospital there for months or would he want to be repatriated and be treated in a UK hospital once he is safe to be moved?
Could you afford to pay for a medivac, or the cheaper repatriation of his remains were he to die there, yourself?
Obviously all of these are, hopefully, long risks but that is reflected in the premiums -v- the £1m+ cover they normally offer.0 -
Hi Thanks, so basically, yes, she's 73, fit, but, still anything can happen. We never went away without it before, so, will take it out.:beer:InsideInsurance wrote: »Depends, if he is taken seriously ill would he be happy staying in a hospital there for months or would he want to be repatriated and be treated in a UK hospital once he is safe to be moved?

Even the youngest person can have a nasty fall or be hit by a vehicle when crossing the road.
Personally I wouldnt travel without it but its always a cost -v- benefit consideration. Maybe if I lived in Northern Ireland and was going on holiday to the Republic of Ireland I may consider not having it given a road transfer would be possible rather than needing plane or helicopter but I dont so always have insurance.0 -
My thoughts too. The only question, is, she's going to the North, then South with her Brother and his wife, and back North, where they live .BUT, there's a flight involved,, so, will get it, play safe.:beer:InsideInsurance wrote: »Even the youngest person can have a nasty fall or be hit by a vehicle when crossing the road.

Don't you already have a European Health Insurance Card? That will at least cover part of your health care, and hopefully he can be moved back to the UK in the event that something terrible happens.0

Yes, got Ehic, I've always Had annual insurance. but, aint been away awhile. Got Nationwide a/c, flexi, unused for a while ,, so, will boost that to get theirs, because OH is 73,couple minor ailments. if not, just buy either online or Flybes own , who OH is flying with. Not till Aug.don't want to buy one that's not fit for purposeMaddybee33 wrote: »Don't you already have a European Health Insurance Card? .my cousin went to wales for holiday, oap, like us, got off the coach, fell between the bus and kerb, didn't even make the hotel, took all skin off her leg.straight to hospital, there a week and then in hospital back home in scotland, via ambulance, never came out, died months later, they had just returned from their first holiday abroad, so it can happen anywhere.0
