Hello!
I am sorry if this is in the wrong section.
My Partner and I are finally moving in together next month, but we need to buy a fridge and a washing machine as the house is totally unfurnished..
We were considering getting an argos card, as I believe it has a period of interest free credit. We will be able to pay the bill off within 3-4 months but just with the cost of deposit and fees we are currently going to be quite low on savings.
My questions are :
* Are you able to pay it off in installments before the interest free credit period is over? E.G for £400 could I pay £50 in month one, £100 in month two and then £250 in month three? Or do we have to pay it off in one lump sum
* Is the interest free period times per item, or per transaction? For example for lower priced items I think it is 56 days, but if I was to buy it with a higher one (for e.g a dining set and a washing machine) would it qualify for the highest amount of interest free credit, or would each item be different?
*Also, can we get a joint one or does it have to be in one persons name?
Many thanks!!

Have you looked here?
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CreditAndInsuranceView?langId=110&storeId=10151&page=Credit%20and%20Insurance%20homepage|Argos%20Card|FAQs
If the answers are not included, I would ring Argos.
You could post on the Credit Card board, but Argos T&C are what matters0 -
I need to nip into town tomorrow, do you think they could tell me details in store?
It is looking like my partner may have to apply anyway, I have a credit limit of £4000 -

I very much doubt it. People in store will be trained (?) to process payments/fetch goods from storage/exchange faulty items etc. Very unlikely to have any detailed knowledge of credit facilities :cool:0 -
Can I be mean?
Dont get one!
have you first had a look at freecycle or gumtree? or local facebook selling groups? til you can afford to purchase new?
not being mean, they are just B-word cards, and just not worth the trouble!Total Debt in Feb 2015 - £6,052 | DEBT FREE 26/05/2017Swagbucks £200 Valued Opinions £100Dave Ramsey Baby Step 2 | Mr Money Mustache Addict0 -
Argos card buy now pay later ranges up to a year interest free and you can make payments as and when. When you pay online you can select where your payments are applied. Buy now pay later is good if you pay it off by the end of the period. But if you don't pay it off you'll be hammered for interest on the whole amount from the day you bought the item.0

I'm sure youre lovely, but I dont want you to join us on the debt free wannabe board because of a horrible card! I see it all the time. ;-)
Honestly new white goods don't always have to cost the earth, Have a look on ebay and I think Currys have a website for their display/refurb items that I've heard are good quality and good prices.
You can always post on your facebook what youre looking for, sometimes when people hear people are moving they can wait to offload all their stuff! That's how I got my FREE freezer and fridge (lasting 5 years so far!).Total Debt in Feb 2015 - £6,052 | DEBT FREE 26/05/2017Swagbucks £200 Valued Opinions £100Dave Ramsey Baby Step 2 | Mr Money Mustache Addict0
