    That's potentially scary. I had not known that, but (perhaps fortunately) we have only employed sole traders up till now. However, friends are currently planning electrical work so I will let them know.

    This was a case where the "electrician" who tested the installation wasn't qualified to do so, and the Qualified Supervisor never even saw the work before signing it off.
    If it sticks, force it.
    If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
