No help from Natwest

Hi,
I am trying to claim back Advantage Gold monthly fees for being miss sold the account when I opened it. However I opened the account in 1997 and I downgraded my account seven/eight years ago when I opened another account. I keep the Natwest one as my emergency one. I telephoned them yesterday to find out what date to and from that I was paying the fees and they told me they couldn't help me as they don't keep records after 7 years. I obviously don't keep my statements so I have no idea where to get this information.
It seems very unfair when I have paid hundreds of £ in fees to not be able to try to get them refunded.
Can anyone help me at all?

If they have no records, you'll need to find your own.
You might want to send a SAR to them to make double sure they don't have any records though.
If they don't have any and you don't, your complaint will go nowhere, as you're the one complaining about something you can't even prove you had.

What is your reason for believing (and evidence to demonstrate) the account was mis-sold?

That indicates that they could probably apply the time bar on you. You have 6 years from the start or 3 years from being reasonably aware of an issue to make a complaint (whichever is longer). 3 years from when you changed the account to no longer being charged is the they could apply.

You didnt seem to mind about it before. So, why worry about it 8 years later?
