Primary school - no uniform, what does your child wear to school?

DS has a school uniform, but given the choice he would far rather joggers than jeans. For this time of year I find the jogger shorts in H&M are ideal and DS has several pairs. He wore them to school today with his school polo shirt with no objection from the school.
OP, does the school have a website or Twitter feed with photos of the children who are at the school now so you can get an idea of what they're wearing?
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
I think balletshoes is right - it's perhaps more important that he dresses more or less like the other kids in his class, than anything else. Speak to the teacher or just pass by the gate at going-home time a few times before term ends.
We didn't have uniform at my school but things were different in the 1970s, we were basically all in hand-me-downs and jumble sale stuff with a few of the "richer" kids getting some of their clothes from Kays Catalogue! And we did have rules about no jeans or cords, no trousers for girls and so on. You might want to check whether they have a dress code, even if they don't go as far as to have a uniform.0 -
Going along the lines of what balletshoes has said. If the school is 5 minutes walk away, open your front door at school finishing time and observe what the kids are wearing. I did this when I needed to apply for my eldest's school place at Primary and wasn't sure if the local children were going to the nearest school which was a few mins walk from me.0

If you have a choice don't go for white shirts/polo shirts. My kids have to wear white polo shirts, and they look terrible after about half a term. If you've managed to keep them clean they'll be grey, otherwise they will be stained with grass or pasta sauce. Go for dark trousers and a darker coloured polo shirt.0
