Hi, I am after a smart wifi plug like the following...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00PQ0KNBA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2KF87KQ3Z034N&coliid=IB7383HDSUJ15
For those not in the know, it acts as a power plug with a remote on and off switch. The remote is your Apple or Android phone which has an app which connects to the plug over your home wifi.
My question is, I am after one or two of these, but would like them to also come with a conventional remote that does not use a mobile phone.
Does anyone have any knowledge on if they exist or not?

Ahah, thank you. Yes they do these, but I was wondering, do they do a plug which has both?
One which has wifi so you can use your phone, but also a conventional remote like the one in your link.0 -

You will need to buy the wifi controller separately for the above BTW0

Looks like he realised and deleted his post .... but not before you'd quoted it.0

These things have a habit of toasting themselves!!!!
People tend to use them for heaters (and other high power appliances) and because they're expensive they end up being overloaded with more equipment than they can handle, resulting in the internal relay being pushed to hard and going into melt down.
In fact you should NEVER use timer switches or remote switches for ANY high power appliance, for this very reason.
Another fault I heard of was interference causing the relay to chatter, the effect being the same as overloading.
They have the potential to be very dangerous. They're a gadget, a fad, one that actually has very little practical use (when you stop and think beyond the novelty factor)..
I personally don't think they should be on sale to the general public, they should be banned, most people are just far too stupid.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Mine works faultlessly. I use it when I'm away from home for an extended period to remotely reset a low power device that periodically screws up.
Just because you can't think of a use doesn't mean there isn't one.
I'm wondering why the OP is averse to using a phone or tablet to switch them when at home.0 -

I think I would be the same ..
It would p1ss me off having to get my phone and open an app (possibly whilst I was in the middle of doing something else on my phone) .. Just to turn something in the same room on or off ..
May aswell just get out of your seat
But - as is said above - just because we cant see any reasons - doesn't mean there aren't any :cool:0 -
