Cameras pointing towards driveway and roadside

Hi, after some advice on household cctv and if it's possible regarding the law to have one.
Thinking of getting a camera to put on the front of our house, 2 reasons for this is to overlook our drive and the two cars parked on it. Secondly would like it to also film the front of our driveway and onto the road also. The reason for this is both myself and girlfriend have nearly been hit or a car has undertook us when trying to pull onto our drive. For some reason it's getting worse as well, we always check to make sure no one is directly behind us, if so we let them pass but many of them come speeding down the road out of couple of streets that turn onto our road. And would like the video to be used as evidence if we do get hit.
Cheers

As long as it's not pointing at your neighbours houses you shouldn't have a problem, but you'd be best off telling them all and showing them that your not peering into their homes.
That or keep it hidden so that nobody ever knows it's there.
As for your crazy drivers undertaking you, I do hope your not one of those morons that drives down the middle of their own street at 2mph just to prove some sort of point to people who might be using it as a cut through...........
There's someone who does this ^^ near where I live, their street is a well known short cut, it was a short cut LONG before they bought the house (so it's their own problem for being so stupid) and on occasion i've given them what they want and mounted the kerb to pass them as they dither along peering into the rear view looking for a reaction. Apparently half the people in the street are sick of it as well.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

How far out do you need to be to be able to turn into your drive? (I'm assuming you're turning left into your drive). Why should you be so far out that anyone needs to undertake you?
Why not drive past your entrance (close to the kerb) and reverse into your drive?0 -

This is good point, reversing off driveways is one of my pet hates, it's one of many reasons why I have a camera in my car. I went 9 months without one a few years ago, it was a near miss with some moron reversing off their drive into a dual-carriageway that made me buy a new dashcam.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

How has your new dash cam prevented their actions?0 -

It automatically interfaces with their cars ECU and stops them.
Seriously dude......... You've had better days. If someone reverses into your path, who do you think will be held to blame without a camera for evidence?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Off their drive? Them.0 -
Off their drive? Them.
Unfortunately their insurance company would call rear end collision and your insurance company wouldn't even try to fight it.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If you say so.0 -
OP the law is this:
You can film almost anything on public land ( there are afew exceptions - such as sensitive military areas - but not applicable in this case).
You can also film your own property.
So for your purposes you are fine to istall CCTV.
Now you can also film anything FROM public land and your own property. So CCTV pointing into neighbours land etc, actually falls under a grey area.

cheers for the info guys and input, much appreciate everything.
dont know why but we find it easier to pull onto driveway and reverse off, most people down our street do this. might be mainly because it's less busy in the morning so can reverse without a problem to go to work, and just pull onto drive when there's slightly more traffic in afternoon. guess this becomes habit and use the same way everytime.
as for pointing the camera, i'd make sure it wasn't going onto neighbors property, but if it did cut onto it slightly i'd pop across and have a chat. we seem to have a decent set of neighbors.
cheers all0
