Can you cancel an item after item not as described dispute closed?

Hi, as title says really - buyer didn't read description before buying or see photos properly as to item flaws ( all described) so she opened dispute. I said I will fight dispute as it was totally as described but I would happily do a plain return and fully refund her straight away if she wanted so it was up to her. She then closed item not as described dispute and returned item . I now am trying to fully refund , as promised, by trying to cancel transaction thus automatically refunding her but it won't work as it keeps saying it has an item dispute open , which it doesn't anymore.

Does anyone know how to get over this. She's a horrible buyer, very aggressive in first email to me so I want to cancel sale aswell as I think that will prevent her from leaving negative as I don't think you can for a cancelled auction? May be wrong but I think it could get removed if she does - she really is not very nice. So any help as to how I can cancel it greatly appreciated.

As she opened a dispute, despite her being the person who closed it, you have a defect.

I don't understand why you have allowed a return. The easiest would to have allowed it via the dispute. The option is there in the dispute to allow a return.

I suspect the only way you can get your fees back will be by calling CS and explaining, they can do a manual credit. You can always refund direct from the Paypal transaction but your eBay fees will not be reimbursed automatically.

However, be under no illusion, you are both free to leave feedback.

The only ways you can prevent feedback is by opening a non paying bidder and the buyer declining to pay or if a dispute is opened and you challenge escalate and win, feedback is removed or is barred.

Just one thing might be worth trying, mark the item as unpaid, then try and cancel sale as that should tell you it will be cancelled if you allow the full refund.

I don't think it gets rid of the defect though.
