What are my rights over delayed delivery?

Hi
I ordered to items of furniture in early April. I was told that the items would be delivered by end of May. Mid-May I received a latter indicating a delay until mid-June. A few days ago, I called them. They told me that one of the items is "ready" the other is nowhere to be seen. The "ready" item can only be delivered after the date shown in their Mid-May letter. In any case, I arranged for its delivery, to get it out of the way.
I sent an email to their offices to ask what is going on to which they have now replied. In short, they have no idea why the second item is delayed and gave me a new date towards the end of June - they do not seem to be too confidentd that this will materialise.
I certainly wish to receive the second item but I wonder what rights I have to request compensation or other redress for this delay. I paid in-store by credit card, the whole amount (a significant amount).
Thank you
