I couldn't fathom out what to do here
    Thick or what??
    travelover
  • You have to supply who gave the quotes. It took me a little head scratching too, to start with. The answers are:
    1. Robert Benchley
    2. Thomas Mann
    3. Shylock

N.B I have edited this in case someone doesn't read the other posts.
Thanks to tempuscat & mad4money for pointing out my mistake.

The prize on offer is genuinely wonderful. . . but with only one meal included, the £10,000 saved on two nights' rack-rate accommodation will be, er, quickly eaten into.

    Maybe order in a pizza????

There's also the fact that you might bump into Michael Winner, as the Cipriani is his favourite hotel.

Nothing against the guy, but I can understand why some people would pay £5,000 a night not to be in a hotel where he might turn up. . . :j

    * PS: Damian, I haven't had time to check my 'Merchant of Venice' so wouldn't want to contradict you here. But surely the quote about being 'rated many a time and oft in The Rialto' -- one of those glorious lines that takes you right back to the original meaning of the word "rated" -- was not a remark made by the snobbish Antonio but directed against him??
  • Go here to find the answer to the 3 rd question http://www.whysanity.net/monos/merchant.html
  • I stand corrected
