Best cashback credit card for me

My capital one cashback card just expired.

Spending of around 500/month. Amex looks like the best at the moment, but it's not accepted at some places...

...I've heard of some of these dual-card where you get slightly less on a mastercard but I can't seem to find any of them...do they exist anymore?

I was specifically looking for cash-cashback.

The Choice Rewards card on the page I linked to allows you to take your rewards as cashback.

Depending on how much of your spend can actually go onto an American Express though, you might be better getting a proper Amex Platinum Cashback card which gives 1.25% vs 1% with the lloyds amex card then something else fee-free for non-amex spends, like a Nationwide cashback card or Tesco card for clubcard points.

MBNA does the More Rewards which is two cards, a VISA and Amex. They also do airline affinity cards which are similarly two cards, Mastercard and a Amex.

I've gone for the (Amex) Amex everyday platinum which has no fee.
There are a number of additional offers that are worth looking at with Amex, for example £5 cashback at cafe nero when you spend £10.
Depends how much you like bargain hunting, but if you like that sort of thing then it's a nice additional perk.

Looks like the dual ones are rewards not cashback.

I;m not bothering with a seperate cashback card. I'll just use my halifax clarity as they offer me a good deal on foreign currency.

Given how much I am spending (£500/month) any fee would reduce the earnings quite alot so its probably best I went fee free which rules out the llyods card sadly :(

I'd still if possible prefer to find a fee free dual card paying cash as cash back...

I don't think that exists but of course you can get one of each.
There aren't really any great cashback deals on Amex/Visa.
There are some better rewards deals if you favour one store like Asda, M&S, John Lewis etc.

I have a Barclaycard Amex (1%) and Visa (0.5%) combo with no fee.

Not sure you can apply for it in it's own right - I requested it as an upgrade from my Barclaycard Initial after reading about it on here.

I use my Santander 1-2-3 wherever cashback is paid (supermarkets, petrol etc) , and the Amex/VISA are my fallback cards for other purchases.

It seems you can only 'get' the Barclaycard AmEx and Visa card if you request it as an upgrade from Barclaycard (there's no mention of being able to apply for it as a customer on their website without owning an existing product.)

I don't know who you bank with OP but Lloyds Bank refund £12 of the annual £24 fee if you're a Club Lloyds customer and Santander refund the annual fee for the first year if you've got one of their 123 current accounts and set up a direct debit to repay the account within 30 days' of opening.

As mentioned above the Choice Rewards card does allow you to convert the accrued points into cash back and for the first six months you get 20 points per qualifying £1 (instead of 10.)

Currently 10,000 Choice Reward Points equals £10 cash back (etc) so spending £500 a month over six months would yield 60,000 (£60.)
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

The Barclaycard combo is only available as an upgrade according to what I was told by Barclaycard UK via twitter - and only after minimum 6 months of having another card.
