Hi everyone, my first post just wanted to ask a quick question.
I ordered a treadmill last week from argos online, yesterday I got a message asking me to call to arrange its delivery, when I called I was told they don't have any stock and it will be 1 month before my goods are delivered,? I ordered this as a present, its annoying because they are still advertising this model and they clearly don't have stock of it, are they allowed to do that?

When you ordered, did they promise you delivery within a certain time?0 -
Sounds like they are giving you the run around....."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
-
I ordered it on their website on Friday, then got an automated call on sunday to say ring and arrange delivery. I called yesterday and was told they don't have stock, yet they are still are advertising it online to buy. I think its ridiculous as its misleading when they don't have stock to sell it.0

Then get it from somewhere else. If they don't have stock then there's not much they can do, is there.0
-
Why are they still selling it when they clearly know they dont have stock ?0
-
Why don't you ask Argos that, a stranger on the internet clearly isn't going to know and be able to answer you!0
-
well my point was to ask if there was any law to stop them selling goods, I obvisouly know that you dont know what the stock levels are0
-
Because they will be getting it back in to stock, and why not sell some while they're waiting for the delivery to arrive. It makes business sense. There's no point letting people shop with competitors when you will be able to fulfil their order after you get more stock in.
If they had promised delivery within a certain time, that would be different.
Many retailers sell things they don't hold stock of, they just order from the manufacturer when an order is placed. This is common practice, especially for slower moving lines or bulky items that would take up a lot of storage space.0 -
Bottom line - if they don't have stock you can cancel the order for a full refund.0
