Bank charges reclaim (Natwest)

My name was added to my Mums account for the purpose of helping her as she gets confused and went to Natwest with her and mentioned bank charges which we thought were missold. I later telephoned Natwest and they started an investigation, however, after 5 weeks they came back to me and said as my name was not on the account at the time it was taken out the claim has been rejected. I rang last Friday and confirmed to them that I have Power of Attorney and they said it didn't matter. Is this true?

Are this unauthorised overdraft charges or something else?as my name was not on the account at the time it was taken out the claim has been rejected. I rang last Friday and confirmed to them that I have Power of Attorney and they said it didn't matter. Is this true?
Have they rejected the complaint or have they not accepted receipt of the complaint from you as you were not party to the account at the time?
Did you make the complaint in your name or your mum's name?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Sorry I wasn't clear. It was a packaged account - Advantage Gold.
Natwest have stated that they were "unable to agree with your complaint regarding the account being unsuitable as our records show that you were not connected to the account when it was upgraded"
The account is not a joint one as I only wanted to be able to assist Mum with any problems. I thought Power of Attorney meant I could act on her behalf. Confused.0 -

Did you state reasons in the complaint that suggested you were present when you were not (such as allegations of what may have been said)?
it reads as is they are rejecting your points because your reasons were based on you being present when you were not.I thought Power of Attorney meant I could act on her behalf.
However, it does not appear to be the POA that is preventing the complaint more that your reasons have been rejected.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
