Late payment next account

Hi I'm hoping someone can help as person on phone at next couldn't give me an answer. I was in hospital at beginning of May and I received an email on 8th saying payment to next account was overdue (I don't use account very much so wasn't in head fully as only used to order some bits for a wedding as next day delivery and shop didn't have in stock) I logged on and paid the payment straight away. We're are currently in middle of mortgage application and have received mortgage in principal but are going to do full application this week. The mortgage is with Santander as that's who I'm currently with and porting over, they have done a credit check which we passed (this is showing on experian) what im wondering is could this late payment stop mortgage going through? I have heard that some companies don't report to credit bureau unless 30 days late but not sure if next directory is one. Just be gutted as we have a very large deposit and are in middl of chain and gutted if something so small and stupid could stop the mortgage

Well, it could. But as always, it depends on the detail of your history, your application and the lender's criteria.

If it's your only transgression, then you're probably safe, but no one can say for sure.

Next reported a late payment for me, but it was 8 days overdue and a new statement had been produced.

If you post this on the Mortgages board, there are some really helpful brokers that may be able to advise you.

I would guess (but I don't know) that if you have a large deposit and you haven't got a high LTV that it will probably be okay. You may well have paid it before it was reported anyway.

YET another example of the dysfunctional credit reporting industry.

Why did you not setup a direct debit.

I didn't have direct debit set up cos as I said I hardly ever used account. I ordered as had wedding and nothing in store in size so got some items on next day and most were returned. Have spoke to someone else at next and isn't being marked on report as was only £5. They mark on their record but not credit bureau for that amount
