I know its not too exciting - but since not buying bottled water (£1) and latte's (£1.20) at work every day (20 working days a month), instead refilling the bottle at the water machine and making cups of tea thats £44 a month i am saving  . Plus i used to take my car to be washed every sunday in and out, £7 per time, thats £28  . THATS £72 a month i was blowing without even realising it... or put another way £864 a year   ......... OR £17,280 OVER THE NEXT 20 YEARS (ok maybe a little over the top  )

you have hit the nail on the head with the sandwiches, every lunch i either buy them (around £3 a time, £15 per week, £60 per month etc etc), or have a pub lunch at £10 a time. Definitely time for me to stop being lazy and make some before i go to work!.
As for the coffee vending machine - ours is so rank that you either get coffee that quite literally looks like it would glow in the dark, or you get a 2 layer speciality... top 90% water, and the bottom 10% is this disgusting clump of syrup and coffee paste. I dont think i have ever finished a full cup of the stuff. :rotfl:I never missed a payment :T , I paid off all my credit cards :T , I paid of all my loans :T , i have a work mobile :T - but am now "medium" credit risk0 -
Well, i have sandwiches for work, get free bottles of evian water (someone else buys them lol ) and the coffee machine at my place is free, so gorgeous mocha's all round.
suprising how much it costs though each month buying sandwiches/going out for lunch, especially when your trying to save so much money up.Car Finance = £2807 (aiming for settlement figure at two year mark)
Total Saved = £1316 in 10 months, £1491 to go.
Student Loan left to repay = £51440 -
Sandwiches are one of the biggest ripoffs going. More than once, I've considered jacking in my job and making them for a living.0

At my place you can pay about £2.50-£3.00 for a sandwich, there not even all that nice! Its a rip off, im taking the tips from someone else on here that mass makes them, say week or 2 in adavance with ham, meat etc & freezes them, in the morning she just grabs them out the freezer & they are defrosted by lunch...save you eating them to early then spending money later as well when you are hungry again!!!2010 is my DO IT year! grow own bits, savvy shopping, organised!!Get a hobby!!! be fit!! be happy!!
Saving all change & paying off debts!!

Ah I feel so special!
At my work, I pay nothing for coffee, tea, fizzy and still drinks! Also get free food sometimes too!
It's not a bad life ;-)

I retired last July. My pension is only about 40% of my old salary. It's amazed me how much I save by not spending on car fuel to get to work, expensive food and drink, buying stuff I need for work, and ... being near to town shops and buying stuff I don't need at all.
Must add up to a sizeable sum, and it was money after tax. Now I pay much less tax and seem to have much more that the 40% I mentioned. So those getting near to retirement take heart ...0 -
I buy 100 teabags at £1 from work, and cos I only really make tea at weekends (don't get breaks during the week as it's only 4 hour shifts), lasts me ages!
Biggest weakness is going to greggs every day, 80p-£2/day (depending on what I buy and whether I have juice or not), adds up to quite a lot!"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."
