Quick car insurance question

We just got a new car (Delivery next 13th June 15). My sister wants our old car but don't need until Aug as she is working abroad.
I'm going to transfer my insurance to the FR which would mean there's no insurance on the old car between now and aug 15. There will still be road tax & mot, can i legally keep the car on my driveway without insurance (it's worth £400). Thanks.

Yes provided you have made a SORN declaration
As part of Continuous Insurance Enforcement (CIE) it is a legal offence to keep a vehicle without insurance unless you have notified DVLA that your vehicle is being kept off the road by means of a Statutory Off Road Notice (SORN).
You don’t have to be driving to be caught.0 -
Also, when you declare SORN any remaining tax (VED) will be refunded (full months only)0
