Closing dates

I know there is probably a simple explanation ,but would it not be better if the comps entered were entered as month first and then day for eg closing today would be 06/07 and tomorrow would be 06/08 then the closing dates would all follow on and if you wanted to select comp closing soon it would be a lot easier.I 'm sure I'm missing the obvious but I would like to know!

In theory, possibly ... but that's the American date format and to new users it would be really confusing.
In saying that though, You could probably do E: 07 Jun / 08 Jul / 09 Aug etc ?0 -
Yes I take your point but it seems confusing that 07/07 follows 07/06 instead of 08/060

You can reverse the order yourself. Would that change it to the way you want it, or is my brain totally frazzled from my hour train delay this morning?!

The date sort would work properly if dates were entered as y.bradley describes. Whether there is the will to make that change is another question. I would like to see it done that way, but suspect posters would find more difficult.
Personally, I use the incorrect sorting that comes up at the moment as a way to get ahead, so I do all the ending 08/xx today. But I have an obscure system for sequencing entries, as I find entering by date posted feels like work, and entering by end date only aways ends up in missing lots.0 -

Initial confusion that the sort is by day and not month so 1st Jan (01/01) is followed by 1st Feb (01/02) etc rather than 01/01 being followed by 02/01, 03/01 although once known it isn't confusing and the standard date format is fine for everyone using the board "as is".0 -
But if you did
01 Jan
02 Jan
05 Jul
That wouldn't be confusing and would sort out the sorting issues?0 -

I don't think so, if you do a sort on the chat corner and make it title and descending apart from the stickies the first dozen or so are £ followed by amounts so ignoring the £ you get in order
600 watchbot
6 star wars comp (be in the next film)
5k dress from Magnum / Henry Holland comp
£500 ASDA gift card win
50 goodie bag worth about a tenner!!!
5 for £10 M&S e-voucher
340,000 cottage!!
250 Amazon Win Scam email
19.69 custom charge to pay. Pls help
170 Treatme vouchers win, where to sell? need advice please
100 visa prepaid card question
100 Visa comp
10 Escentual voucher with Fabulous?
It looks like the sort is number based first so you would still get all the first of the months together, then the 2nd etc just with the months in alphabetical instead of number order - 01 Apr, 01 Aug, 01 Feb etc0 -
ahh ok, that makes sense0

When I file stuff on pc at work I put the entire date backwards. For example today would be:-
2015-06-12 description
That way, everything is filed in date order.
Your suggestion would work on here, but as you can already search for comps as most recently posted, date forwards from 01 and backwards form 31, I think they have most options covered.
Also could you imagine the chaos if they changed the date format?!? LOL2017 wins = £1350
2016 wins = £125 (18 months off comps)
2015 wins = £6,460
2014 wins = £1,3500 -
Agree with everyone else. The format the OP wants is an American format. This is a UK forum and that's why it has our dating format.August-September 2017: Lots of stuff
